WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER SURGERY ?

Most patients  bend the knee the day of the surgery in a continuous passive motion machine and walk the second or third day after knee

replacement surgery.


WHEN IS THE DISCHARGE ?

Discharge from the hospital is on day 5/6 after single knee and day 10 /11 for both knee replacements.


DO WE PERFORM SINGLE STAGE , BOTH KNEES ?

yes , we do perform for patients found fit and <65 years of age .


WHEN WILL THE PATIENT START DOING WELL ?

The benefits of knee replacements are seen by 2-3 months after surgery , and improvement continues till 6-12

months after replacement.


WHAT IF WE LIVE IN NORTH/WEST/EAST BANGALORE , OR OUT OF BANGALORE?

we have performed knee replacement surgery for non south bangalore and non bangalore patients, those

staying in other areas will have a home physiotherapy arranged at a nominal fee for 25 sittings post

discharge . Non bangalore patients - will have to stay at a relatives place/ hotel for 25 days post discharge .


WHEN WILL I WALK WITH OUT SUPPORT?

patients need to use a walker for 2-3 weeks and a cane for another 2- 3 weeks post surgery , then they can

be independent of any support .


WHAT RANGE OF MOVEMENT TO EXPECT ?

110-120 DEGREES FOR A STANDARD KNEE 

 AROUND 140 DEGREES FOR A HIGH FLEX DESIGN
